Tell us a little about yourself and your role at Boundless Learning.

“I’ve been part of Boundless Learning for more than 10 years. I began my journey as a marketing manager, and throughout the years, I’ve worn a variety of hats while leading teams and collaborating across all functions of our business.

Currently, I am a lead for the North American portfolio of partners. In my role, I have the pleasure of establishing strong relationships with our academic partners, serving as the main point of engagement for our company, both internally and externally. In other words, I’m the voice of the university with internal business partners and conversely the main representative for our company with our academic partners.”

You play a critical role as the primary engagement lead for academic partners. How do you ensure that partnerships remain strong?

“Our partners are the cornerstone of our company. I thoroughly enjoy being an extension of each institution as I believe in what we are trying to accomplish, which is to build a better city, state, nation, and world with and through education.

By creating strong relationships, we can remain focused on our shared goal: to ensure that learners remain at the heart of everything we do. We accomplish this by remaining committed and connected through all facets of our partnership. Every decision considers the learner's experience and impact. Part of my role is to enable conversations that foster growth and provide higher education insights that allow our partners to stay ahead of the evolving curve.”

With the rapid changes in online learning, what emerging trends or technologies do you believe will have the biggest impact on shaping the education sector in the next 5 years?

“AI will change the landscape of higher education. We should prepare to embrace the positive impact it will have.

It will, and is already, changing how we learn, digest, translate, and interpret information. I don’t think we should be fearful of AI’s potential in education. As with all technology, when used and monitored ethically, the options are limitless and can be rewarding for educators and students.”

What leadership principles or strategies have guided you in fostering collaboration and achieving success with internal teams and partners?

“’One must first seek to understand, before they are understood.’ - Dr. Stephen Covey

This is a quote that has remained with me for many years. We must first know, and understand, what our teams and partners are trying to accomplish before we attempt to solve or collaborate. It has always been important to me that our internal teams and partners are truly heard in order to build trust, which is the critical foundation in all relationships.

It’s also important to provide options by exploring different angles, seeking alignment and clarity, and summarizing goals and next steps whenever possible. Never try to be the smartest one in the room. Everyone will see through the fog once it clears. Instead, be your authentic self and let your passion, knowledge, and experience shine.”

Looking back at over a decade with the company, is there a particular accomplishment that you’re most proud of?

“There are a few I can think of and a couple that stand out, but there is one that rises to the top.

Our team, in partnership with Maryville University, grew enrollments from below 4,000 learners to more than 10,000 over several years. This was accomplished through years of hard work, collaboration, and true partnership. I was so proud of what we were able to accomplish through market analysis, program readiness assessments, research, launch timelines, brand building, learner support, and so much more.

I remember when we shared the concept for our brand campaign and the energy in the room as we beamed with satisfaction. We realized that we could positively impact so many lives by sharing the Maryville story through the ‘Let’s Be Brave Together’ tagline. I’ll always be proud of the work we continue to do together.

Our partnerships provide a bridge to enabling better outcomes for every learner. Personally, I am most proud that we are able to do just that each day.”
