Building Boundless Momentum: Reflections from Leadership on 3 Years of Empowering Potential

Content (image full width)

Three years ago, Boundless Learning brought together more than three decades of experience under a new brand and a shared vision for the future.

Since then, we've become clearer about who we are, more disciplined in how we operate, and more confident in where we're headed. We've expanded our capabilities, welcomed new partners, embraced new technologies, and continued helping universities create opportunities for learners around the world.

But the true extent of our achievement isn't measured by milestones alone. It's measured by the momentum we've built together.

As our CEO, Josh Richards, shared in his message to employees:

“Every day, teams across Boundless Learning help learners discover the right program, enroll with confidence, persist through challenges and ultimately achieve their educational goals. Maintaining a 95% learner retention rate is one measure of that commitment, but it is the work behind that number that matters most. Every conversation, every campaign, every operational improvement and every technological advancement contributes to changing someone’s future.”

As we close our anniversary month, we asked members of our leadership team to reflect on what they've learned over the past three years. While each perspective was unique, together they tell the story of an organization that's building momentum.

Momentum starts with people

Across every reflection, one theme stood out: Our greatest strength is our people.

Whether partnering with universities, supporting learners, or helping one another navigate change, our culture is rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

As Darlene Pittman, Senior Vice President of Enrollment and Retention, reflected:

“By bringing together AI, data, and incredible people, we can create a learner experience that's more personalized, more proactive, and more connected than ever before. I believe the future isn't about choosing between technology and human connection. It's about using technology to strengthen human connection. If we continue to innovate while keeping learners at the center of every decision, there's no limit to the impact Boundless Learning can have on our university partners and, most importantly, on the lives of the learners we serve.”

That philosophy continues to guide how we approach innovation. As we invest in technology and AI, our focus remains on creating stronger partnerships and better experiences for learners.

Andrea Marcinkus, Senior Director of Research and Insights, reflected on the importance of communication and clarity for internal teams and partners alike, reminding us that meaningful progress starts with listening, understanding, and supporting people through change:

“One moment that stands out is not a single event, but a pattern I have seen repeatedly in our work with internal teams and academic partners. Our team often helps others move from uncertainty to clarity by translating complex market, learner, and competitive data into insights they can use to make decisions. I have seen that work empower colleagues to ask sharper questions, evaluate opportunities more confidently, and have more informed conversations with partners. To me, that is one of the clearest ways our team empowers potential: We help people see what is possible, understand what is realistic, and move forward with greater confidence.”

Ownership builds momentum

When leaders were asked which company value (Respect, Ownership, Innovation) has come to life most consistently over the past three years, the answer that surfaced more than any other was ownership.

Around here, ownership isn’t a buzzword for accountability. It's about stepping forward, solving problems together, and taking responsibility for the success of our partners, our learners, and one another.

At its core, ownership is about shared success. As Chris Heath, Director of Enterprise Sales, recently noted, our best work happens when people step outside their individual roles to solve problems together, creating stronger outcomes through collaboration.

For David Ducic, Senior Director of Partner Marketing, ownership is closely connected to curiosity:

"I hope we never stop asking questions or seeking better solutions."

That willingness to improve continuously has become one of the defining characteristics of our culture at Boundless Learning.

Growth with purpose builds long-term success

Although each leader answered the questions differently, they all returned to the same idea: Creating meaningful impact.

Every strategy.

Every partnership.

Every operational improvement.

Every innovation.

Ultimately, our work is about helping institutions grow, so they can create more opportunities for learners.

As Heidi Diedrich, Chief Operating Officer, reflected:

"What excites me most is our ability to be a growth and operations partner to today's academic institutions — and tomorrow's."

That perspective reflects how we've evolved as an organization. Today, we're helping institutions do more than launch programs; we're helping them strengthen the strategy, operations, and capabilities needed to grow sustainably and serve learners for years to come.

Dana La Fleur, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Insights, echoed that sentiment, reflecting on the importance of helping institutions build lasting capability rather than simply solving today's challenges. Long-term success comes from strengthening the institution itself so it can continue creating opportunities for learners well into the future.

Empowering potential, together

Three years as Boundless Learning represents an important milestone, and it represents momentum built on more than 30 years of experience innovating and pioneering in online education.

That momentum is fueled by people who care deeply about learners, embrace change, and continuously challenge themselves to improve.

And now, that momentum is helping us become a stronger growth and operations partner for higher education while staying true to the promise that has guided us from the beginning: Empowering potential.

When a learner earns a degree, advances in their career, or achieves a goal they once thought was out of reach, the impact extends far beyond the individual. It opens new doors for families, creates opportunities for future generations, strengthens communities, and helps build a more resilient workforce. That's the ripple effect of education. And it's why our work matters.

As we begin our fourth year as Boundless Learning, we're excited not simply by how far we've come, but by what we're building together. Because the greatest measure of our success is the lasting impact we create for our learners, our partners, and the communities they serve.
